It’s day 12 of my 12 Days of Cuteness. Our holiday celebration of pet cuteness comes to an end today.
As always, my favourite photo is first but the rest are in no particular order.

As I mentioned in a previous post, this is the last year of the 12 Days of Cuteness.
It takes a lot of time to put all this stuff together. With apps such as Instagram, you can enjoy 365 days of cuteness and it doesn’t take a lot of time to post a photo there.
Thank you to EVERYONE who sent us photos over the past four years. I know it’s a bit of a cliche to say it but (it’s true) we couldn’t have done it without you.
And for those of you who just enjoyed looking at cute pics, thank you for stopping by. I hope we brought a smile to your face and brightened your day a little.
Minnie & Toby (dogs of the day)
I wanted to end my 12 Days of Cuteness with this photo of Toby and Minnie – my Instagram friends.
They recently had four puppies – their second litter – and documented their new babies on Instagram (ahem, not the actual birthing part, just to be clear). It was pure joy.
Their first litter wasn’t quite so joyful because only one puppy survived.
To me, this photo reminds me of new life. I thought it was fitting to end my 12 Days of Cuteness with it.
Their mum says, “Minnie, a Shih Tzu, is one and a half and Toby, a Pug, is four and a half.
They can never be apart. They need to eat together, sleep together, walk together, go do their business together. Everywhere one goes the other is right there too. [They’re the] best of friends.”
Mercy’s mum says, “This is my little six year old Shih Tzu. We named her Mercy. We rescued her in February 2013. She has brought so much joy and happiness to our home. She loves to play with her squeaky toys and goes absolutely crazy for car rides.”
This is 11 year old Shih Tzu Bailey. Her mum says she is “… full of attitude.”
Daisy is a two year old Shichon. Her mum says, “She is a very sweet, intelligent, loving little girl. When she knows we are near home or my daughter’s house, she does a little whine to let me know she is getting excited.
She loves wearing her bows. When she sees me going through them, Daisy is right there in front of me ready for the bow to put into her hair.”
This is three year old Shih Tzu Crystu. His mum says, “He loves hugs, kisses, chasing cats and doesn’t like being left alone even for a second. And God knows why he becomes really curious when people fart!
He is my best friend and I share all my secrets with him and love him more than anything.”
Five month old Shih Tzu Sadie “… absolutely loves ice and frozen grapes. I can have an ice cube in one hand and a treat in the other and she will choose the ice every time,” says her mum.
(Warning to Sadie’s mum: grapes are toxic to dogs.)
This is Oscar. His mum says, “He’s a German Pinscher (not a GSD/Doberman mix). He’ll be five in February. He looks stoned when he’s happy, but it’s just his relaxed face.”
The Shih Tzu sisters & Nigel
Their mum says, “In June 2011, I saw a picture of three Shih Tzu sisters online. I was interested in one of them and contacted the animal rescue organization caring for them.
After meeting [them] my husband and I decided to foster [them all]: Dottie, 2; Candy, 2; and Flower, 5. These three Shih Tzu sisters spent their life as puppy mill mothers. They came to us as fearful dogs with many issues, but they are learning to enjoy life, inch by inch.
We adopted Dottie, Candy and Flower on July 20, 2011. We want to encourage other people to adopt puppy mill dogs, even when they seem ‘unadoptable.’ We were afraid to take on this challenge at first but now I can’t imagine what life would be like without them. Our Shih Tzu sisters didn’t come to us as cuddly, fluffy puppies. But they have learned to trust us, and we have learned to love them.
A few months later, we were asked to foster a male Shih Tzu that was an owner surrender. Nigel captured our hearts as well and we couldn’t ‘surrender’ him, so he is now part of the family.”
And that, my friends, ends my 12 Days of Cuteness.
Wishing you all a wonderful 2014 filled with cuteness.
